Mumbai-based orthopaedic surgeon Dr Manan Vora, in an April 21 Instagram video, cautions that milk and sugar in coffee can block antioxidant absorption and spike insulin levels.
He explains that black coffee contains over 1,000 bioactive compounds, which may protect liver cells, improve insulin sensitivity, and reduce Alzheimer’s risk, but these benefits are lost with common Indian preparations.
Dr Vora advises drinking plain black coffee, waiting 90 minutes after waking before consumption, and avoiding coffee after 3:00 pm to maximize health benefits and minimize negative effects.
