The 33-year-old cattle breeder was fatally wounded by a bull on Friday evening in Beas de Segura, Jaén province, during the toros ensogados event.
Despite emergency surgery at a mobile medical unit, Barrero died as he was being transferred to hospital. All Friday festival events were cancelled, and Saturday’s program will begin with a minute of silence.
