Google Maps Expands 2 Android Auto Features as Immersive Navigation Tops 10% Adoption

Google Maps is now showing Immersive Navigation and a live speedometer to more Android Auto users, with both features appearing on devices outside Maps and Android Auto beta programs.
Server-side activation appears to be driving the rollout, which remains uneven and may vary by region and device rather than app version alone.
Immersive Navigation, billed earlier this year as Maps' biggest update in years, adds more detailed maps and turn guidance; on Android, a Gemini icon replacing Assistant is an immediate sign it is live.
A reader poll earlier this month found only a little over 10% had Immersive Navigation, suggesting Google has accelerated availability in recent weeks even if the rollout is still not universal.
