Connecticut investigator Mike Young said Klimas appeared accurate and honest when interviewed at the scene, and BFRO founder Matt Moneymaker said he also found the witness credible. No physical evidence was reported near Beach Pond afterward. The available accounts say investigators did not find visible footprints, and Moneymaker noted that tracks were not discernible because of the road and ground conditions at the site. The case therefore rested on witness testimony and BFRO’s credibility assessment rather than on recovered trace evidence such as prints, hair or other material. Investigators also pointed to context they said made the report notable: the sighting occurred near the Pachaug River and Pachaug State Forest, an area BFRO says has had prior reports, including a 2019 road-crossing account. A Rhode Island man told investigators an 8-8½-foot biped crossed in front of his car in Voluntown, Connecticut, in the early hours of July 5, forcing him to brake.
The witness said the creature had coarse long brown hair, arms hanging near knee height and an 8-9 foot arm span, and insisted it was not a bear caught in his headlights.
He said the sighting happened just after he left a friend's rented cabin and that it took him 60-90 seconds to regain control before driving home.
The man, who said he had been skeptical before the encounter, later spoke with two Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization investigators and went on camera at the site.
