The main dress took nine months and nearly 1,000 hours to complete, using 25 yards of silk chiffon dyed “antique rose” to create the vintage, tea-stained effect Roberts wanted.
Lhuillier built five looks into the bridal ensemble, including a removable lace shawl, a strapless neckline reveal, a draped bustle, chapel-length veil and lace voilette.
Roberts also chose an archival fall 2004 Lhuillier two-piece in black Chantilly lace and layered silk organza for the after-party, calling the unexpected look ideal for the Idaho celebration.
The fitting doubled as a family reveal at Lhuillier’s Los Angeles salon, where Roberts’ mother, sister, cousins, friends and bridesmaid-stylists reacted emotionally to the finished wardrobe.
