A power outage at SES Water’s Bough Beech treatment works caused complications in the Horley area, cutting pressure or temporarily halting supply to the airport and other customers.
Bottled water was being handed to passengers and staff while Gatwick said contingency measures were in place and the cause was under investigation.
SES Water said it was working with the airport to restore normal service as quickly as possible, extending the disruption beyond the terminals to parts of Kent, Surrey and south London.
