Summary
About 150 vulnerable young people have gone through Tribal Shack’s Team Gideon Rehabilitation Programme, which uses restaurant work in Valelevu to provide employment, life skills and stability.
Josevata Tabuya said the initiative was created because many youths struggle to find jobs due to their backgrounds and lack of qualifications, leaving them at risk of drifting on the streets.
Six staff members currently work at the restaurant, many of them programme graduates, turning the business into a supportive workplace as well as a pathway back into regular employment.
Located in Valelevu’s industrial area, Tribal Shack also serves traditional Fijian food, pairing rehabilitation with a healthier local dining option in a fast-food-heavy neighborhood.
