Queens 5-Alarm Fire Injures 21 and Damages Multiple Homes

Twenty-one people were injured in a fast-moving Queens house fire, including 19 firefighters and two civilians, after flames tore through homes on 41st Road in Flushing.
The blaze started just before 10 a.m. Saturday on a first floor near College Point Boulevard, spread to adjoining buildings within about 30 minutes, and escalated from a third to a fourth alarm by 10:40 a.m.
More than 250 FDNY fire and EMS personnel responded as heavy smoke filled the neighborhood; one civilian was seriously hurt, another had minor injuries, and firefighters' injury details were not immediately clear.
Later reporting described the incident as a five-alarm fire that heavily damaged multiple residential buildings, displaced families and left the cause under investigation.
