Summary
LSU opened Lane Kiffin’s first preseason with a No. 5 SEC media projection, trailing Georgia, Texas, Ole Miss and Texas A&M while finishing ahead of Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Florida.
Nine Tigers also made the preseason All-SEC teams, led by first-team picks Trey’Dez Green, Jordan Seaton, Princewill Umanmielen, Whit Weeks and punter Grant Chadwick.
Two of 164 voters picked LSU to win the SEC, making the Tigers one of eight teams to receive at least one first-place vote.
That optimism follows a 2025 season in which LSU finished 10th in the league after being picked fourth, a slide that led to Brian Kelly’s firing and Kiffin’s hiring.
LSU begins preseason camp in early August and opens the 2026 season at home against Clemson on Sept. 5.
