Thursday’s updates push voice beyond chatbot talk: OpenAI added hands-free desktop control for ChatGPT, while Anthropic tuned Claude for longer spoken problem-solving and coding sessions.
OpenAI’s GPT-Live is rolling out on macOS and Windows to Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education users, letting ChatGPT launch multiple tasks in one conversation and keep earlier jobs running in the background.
On macOS, Appshots gives ChatGPT visibility into the active app so it can understand on-screen work before acting; ChatGPT Remote is already on iOS, with Android support expected later.
Anthropic’s new Claude Voice Mode lets users ask Claude to think longer, refine answers across exchanges and troubleshoot code by voice, while Claude Code now accepts dictated prompts, terminal commands and code edits.
The dueling launches show frontier AI labs splitting on strategy: OpenAI is turning voice into a cross-app control layer, while Anthropic is making it a deeper interface for reasoning and developer workflows.
