35:26 on Alpe d'Huez gave Tadej Pogačar stage 19 and erased Marco Pantani's 30-year benchmark by an estimated 1 minute 14 seconds.
UAE Team Emirates-XRG and other teams helped reel in the break before Pogačar attacked on the lower slopes, then passed Richard Carapaz, Sepp Kuss and Lenny Martinez before going clear inside the final kilometre.
Velon data produced the record estimate, and while the official time was still pending, the margin was large enough to remove doubt that Pantani's 36:40 mark had fallen.
The ride came on the Tour's hors catégorie climb to the ski resort, a 13.8 km ascent in the roadbook, and strengthened Pogačar's push toward a fifth Tour de France title.
