Onyx Boox Teases 3.97-Inch Picco E-Reader to Challenge XTEINK

Onyx Boox has begun teasing the BOOX Picco, a 3.97-inch monochrome E Ink e-reader aimed at the fast-growing pocket-size segment dominated by XTEINK.
The Picco is expected to include a front light for day and night reading, microSD-expandable storage and physical page-turn buttons, with teaser imagery also linking it to Boox's new Tile product line.
To compete directly, Boox may need to price the device around $99 to $129, which could mean dropping a touchscreen and limiting software features in favor of a reading-focused interface.
The launch would give Boox a smaller alternative to its $269.99 Palma 2 as compact, phone-attachable e-readers gain traction among users seeking distraction-free reading.
