Dane County's medical examiner said Friday that Corey Ruiz's cause and manner of death remain undetermined, with additional testing still underway after a forensic autopsy was completed Thursday.
Ruiz, 38, was shot Wednesday afternoon at Williamson and Baldwin streets after Madison officers tried to detain him and a struggle broke out.
Madison police said Ruiz used a knife to injure one officer, and video from the scene appears to show an officer firing three shots.
Ruiz was pronounced dead at a hospital the same day, and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation is still investigating the death.
