Columbia Housing Employs 21 Youth in Summer Program Built Over 30 Years

Columbia Housing hired 21 young people this summer through a youth employment program the agency says it has run for more than 30 years.
The program is designed to give teens more than a paycheck, building responsibility, communication, time management and other workplace skills through early job experience.
Studies cited in the report say young people who work early are more likely to be employed later and tend to earn higher salaries, framing the program as a long-term investment in participants' futures.
