Clear ascent imagery, combined with data from six camera-equipped Starlink V3 satellites flying alongside the vehicle, gives engineers one of the best chances to spot tile movement, gaps, or damage in real time. The delay also reflects a broader test philosophy: a 24-hour slip is less costly than flying and missing a mission-critical measurement after already replacing suspect Raptor engines from the July 16 abort. For SpaceX, the risk was not the delay itself, but wasting a rare full-scale test of Starship Version 3 without the visibility needed to learn from it.
