Q: Why is a non-competitive Goldeen card commanding higher market prices than the powerful Mega Evolutions in the Pitch Black expansion?

Goldeen is selling above some stronger Mega Evolution cards because its price is being driven by collectors, not by tournament play. In Pitch Black, Goldeen 087/084 is an Illustration Rare and, crucially, the first full-art Goldeen ever printed in the Pokémon TCG. That “first-ever” status gives it novelty that many collectors value more than raw in-game power. Early coverage and market trackers both show it ranking among the set’s higher-priced cards despite being a basic 70 HP Water-type with little competitive use.
