Dragonfly Delivers 4-Metre Fuselage for Titan Mission Ahead of 2028 Launch

Dragonfly’s nearly 4-metre fuselage has been delivered for installation of mechanical, electrical and thermal systems, marking a new assembly milestone for NASA’s Titan rotorcraft.
The structure has already passed vibration and load tests as integration and testing ramp up in 2026 for a launch no earlier than July 2028 on a SpaceX Falcon Heavy.
Titan’s atmosphere is about 4 times denser than Earth’s and gravity about one-seventh as strong, conditions that let Dragonfly’s 8 rotors fly between sites more efficiently than a lander could travel.
Across a planned 3.3-year surface mission after arrival in late 2034, Dragonfly could cover up to 175 kilometres while probing organic chemistry and prebiotic processes, including at Selk impact crater.
