Samsung Promises 5 OS Upgrades for Galaxy Watch 9, Ultra 2 Through 2031

Five major OS upgrades and five years of security patches are now slated for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2, giving both new models support through 2031.
The watches ship with One UI 9 Watch based on Wear OS 7, and the longer commitment lifts Samsung above its previous policy of four OS upgrades for Galaxy Watch models since the Watch 4.
That pledge widens Samsung’s lead over Google’s Pixel Watch, which offers 3 years of OS upgrades, and roughly matches Apple Watch longevity even though Apple does not preannounce a fixed update window.
Samsung has not said whether older models such as the Galaxy Watch 8, Watch 8 Classic or earlier Ultra will get the same extension; differing chips may make that unlikely.
