Virgin Islands Unveils 1st Entrepreneurial Zone Building, Offering 2-4 Years of Incubator Space

Building 1 in Huntums Ghut has been unveiled as the first completed facility in the Virgin Islands’ first Entrepreneurial Zone, bringing the project closer to full operation for start-ups and emerging businesses.
Two to four years of affordable space and business support will be offered to successful applicants, who must submit detailed business plans and pass screening and interviews before moving into the incubator.
The dry-zone building contains air-conditioned, glass-fronted units for businesses that do not need water or plumbing, while a second building is still under construction for additional business types.
Department officials said entrepreneurs not awarded units will still be able to access training, mentorship and grant programmes aimed at moving informal operators into sustainable commercial businesses.
The Huntums Ghut project, developed with Fifth District Representative Kye Rymer, is intended as a model for similar Entrepreneurial Zones in other districts as the government expands support for micro, small and medium-sized firms.
