The rattlesnake threat was handled with professional snake wranglers. Cole Hauser said about 3,400 rattlesnakes were removed from the property during production. In one case, after a den of roughly 40 to 50 snakes was found, filming was halted for the night so handlers could clear the area, underscoring that production stopped when safety required it. The weather was a more constant endurance test. Early in the shoot, cast and crew were working in open terrain with few comforts: little or no air conditioning, limited plumbing, no standard trailers because of 360-degree shooting needs, and minimal shade. Over time, the production adapted by adding practical protections such as heaters during cold snaps and umbrellas for sun cover in extreme heat. Hauser has said the Texas landscape itself became part of the challenge, but also part of what bonded the team.
