Summary
Nine days after the first public beta, Apple opened iOS 27 public beta 2 to iPhone testers, headlined by a rebuilt Siri that can keep context across requests, search personal data and act inside apps.
iOS 27 runs on iPhone 11 and newer, but Apple Intelligence features — including Siri AI — require an iPhone 15 Pro or later, with some advanced on-device tools limited to newer iPhone 17-class models.
Apple says the update also brings measurable speed gains: apps can launch up to 30% faster, AirDrop transfers up to 80% faster and new photos can appear up to 70% faster, including on older supported iPhones.
Screen Time gets one of the biggest non-AI changes, adding category-based Time Allowances, app Schedules and new child-safety controls for websites, contacts and violent-content detection.
The beta is free through Apple’s Beta Software Program, but Apple recommends installing it on a secondary device ahead of the final iOS 27 release this fall.
