Summary
Feb. 5, 2025 bodycam footage shows UCF student Jarrett Vick being pepper-sprayed, tased and handcuffed after a campus confrontation escalated during a pronoun dispute with officers.
UCF police said officers were responding to reports that Vick had argued with several juveniles and then became combative, resisting handcuffing after objecting when an officer used the wrong pronoun.
Officers said Vick threw a closed fist, grabbed an officer’s microphone and kicked an officer during the struggle; he was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer with violence.
Orange County court records show Vick pleaded not guilty and the cases are closed, while UCF said he attended in spring 2025 but is no longer a student and did not graduate.
