The State Department renewed its ban on the use of U.S. passports for travel to North Korea for another year, keeping the restriction in force until August 2027.
Serious risks of arrest and long-term detention for U.S. travelers drove the extension, according to the department.
The move keeps in place a policy Washington has repeatedly rolled over as tensions with Pyongyang persist and direct travel remains highly restricted.
