Arizona Republicans put 2020 election deniers atop the statewide ticket Tuesday, with Andy Biggs joining nominees who made election integrity a central campaign theme.
More than 70% of GOP primary voters backed Biggs for governor, underscoring how closely Arizona primaries still reward alignment with Donald Trump’s false 2020 election claims.
Biggs backs the SAVE America Act, while other nominees have pushed ending Arizona’s permanent early-voting list, tighter voter ID rules and expanded investigations into election results.
November has been tougher terrain: Arizona Republicans lost major statewide races in 2022 after nominating election deniers, and Kari Lake lost again in 2024 even as Trump carried the state by over 5 points.
Democrats now plan to use those positions against the GOP ticket in a battleground state that was central to Trump’s failed effort to overturn Biden’s 2020 win.
