Whitehall Offers Relocation Packages for 300-Staff No 10 North in Manchester

Whitehall officials in central London have been offered relocation packages to move to Manchester, where a new Downing Street outpost known as No 10 North is already operating, the BBC reported.
Heron House in central Manchester is serving as the initial base, with the longer-term home expected to be the government’s Digital Campus in Ancoats, which is not due to be completed before 2032.
A Re:State blueprint released Tuesday proposes building the operation to about 300 staff within 18 months, combining new hires from Greater Manchester and the wider North with transfers from departments including the Treasury and Cabinet Office.
At least three senior figures from Andy Burnham’s former Greater Manchester mayoral team are understood to have agreed to join, while some GMCA staff said they learned of colleagues’ moves only after seeing them on television.
Formal details are still limited, but further announcements on staffing and structure are expected as government appointments continue and statements are made in the House of Lords.
