Buddy Carter Urges FCC Review of 3 Networks Over Trump’s 20-Minute Address

A Monday letter from Rep. Buddy Carter asked FCC Chairman Brendan Carr to examine whether ABC, NBC and CBS failed their public-interest obligations by not fully carrying Trump’s July 16 primetime speech.
ABC and NBC did not air the address live on their main broadcast networks, while CBS joined several minutes late and cut away before Trump finished, though ABC and NBC streamed it online and later aired special reports.
Carter argued streaming was not an adequate substitute for free over-the-air television, especially for viewers without reliable broadband, and said the speech’s election-integrity and national-security claims warranted live broadcast coverage.
Trump had already attacked ABC and NBC during the more than 20-minute address and called for their licenses to be revoked after using the speech to announce declassified intelligence documents on alleged election vulnerabilities.
