Summary
11:43 p.m. Sunday, a 30-year-old man was shot several times outside a bar in the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue after a fight, and later died at Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Chicago police recovered a gun at the scene, took a suspect into custody and said charges are pending as Area Three detectives investigate.
Ald. Timmy Knudsen said the killing should bolster his push for tighter late-night bar restrictions on that stretch of Lincoln Avenue, where he said extra patrols and permanent weekend patrols are planned.
Four other people — ages 20 to 34 — were wounded in separate overnight shootings in Englewood, Roseland, South Shore and Fernwood, all listed in good condition.
