Summary
Six commercial vessels were redirected and one was disabled by July 19 as U.S. forces tightened enforcement of a naval blockade on Iranian ports, CENTCOM said.
CENTCOM said the blockade is meant to ensure compliance while degrading Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial shipping and civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz.
A ninth straight night of U.S. strikes followed Sunday, hitting Iranian command centers, air defenses, coastal surveillance sites, maritime assets, and missile and drone launch infrastructure.
The escalation came as maritime risks spread beyond the blockade: UKMTO reported a vessel on fire near the strait, and Brent crude rose above $90 a barrel on supply fears.
