Joe Kent on Sunday renewed his call for an immediate U.S. military withdrawal from the Middle East, warning more casualties could trigger a mass-casualty attack and deepen escalation with Iran.
CENTCOM said two U.S. service members died in Jordan after an Iranian attack on July 17, with unidentified remains later found at the site, while another service member was killed in northern Iraq on July 18.
That Iraq incident happened during a controlled detonation of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian one-way attack drone; a second service member suffered a minor injury.
Kent, who quit as National Counterterrorism Center director earlier this year over the war, argues U.S. bases are liabilities and says pulling troops, bases and naval forces would remove Iran's main regional targets.
His latest appeal came as CENTCOM announced a ninth straight night of strikes on Iran, underscoring the widening conflict and the domestic pressure on Trump over whether to keep U.S. forces in the region.
