Four vessels had switched off navigation systems and ignored warnings from Iran's Hormuz Strait control base before trying to use a route outside the corridor designated by Iranian authorities, the IRGC said.
The IRGC said control of the strait is fully in its hands and repeated that no oil, gas or chemical fertilizer cargo would pass without coordination and permission.
The incident comes amid heightened US-Iran tensions after eight nights of US airstrikes and earlier Iranian claims that unauthorized naval movements through Hormuz violated a June 17 Pakistan-brokered deal.
