More than 50 South-West technicians gathered in Ibadan for NBC and NIGCOMSAT training on set-top box installation and reception equipment ahead of Nigeria’s digital TV migration.
The programme is the first in a nationwide series meant to cut installation errors and service disruptions by teaching DTH satellite dish alignment, DTT antenna optimisation and hybrid device configuration.
The training supports the federal government’s June 17, 2026 “Big Picture” reset, which set a Dec. 31, 2028 deadline for shutting off analogue broadcasting after years of delays and more than N60 billion in spending.
Under the hybrid plan, NIGCOMSAT-1R, terrestrial DTT and IP delivery are expected to speed rollout by more than 65%, while the FreeTV platform targets up to 100 free-to-air HD channels for about 40 million households.
