Vandenberg Airman, 23, Dies After Heavy Equipment Rolls Down Embankment

Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna, 23, died Thursday after the heavy equipment he was operating rolled down an embankment at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
No other personnel were injured, and the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office has not yet determined the official cause of death.
Vandenberg said units are supporting a Safety Investigation Board review into the accident involving Eneluna, a member of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight.
Eneluna, from Fayetteville, North Carolina, joined the military on March 5, 2024, arrived at Vandenberg in August for his first duty assignment, and worked with the base’s 'Dirt Boyz' heavy equipment team.
The death hits a unit that maintains roads and airfields supporting Vandenberg’s satellite launches into polar orbit and intercontinental ballistic missile tests.
