On the "I've Had It" podcast, Hunter Biden said Merrick Garland's leadership at the Justice Department was the single greatest mistake of his father's administration.
Hunter Biden tied that judgment to Garland's failure to move faster against Donald Trump over Jan. 6, arguing a legitimate investigation should have begun sooner into what he called a planned effort to overturn the 2020 election.
He also said Joe Biden bore ultimate responsibility for choosing Garland, while insisting the former president kept a strict separation from Justice Department decisions once the appointment was made.
The criticism came after host Jennifer Welch attacked Garland for not charging Trump and for overseeing the investigation that led to Hunter Biden's tax and gun cases.
Hunter Biden had been under investigation since 2018 and was later pardoned by his father for offenses committed or potentially committed between Jan. 1, 2014, and Dec. 1, 2024.
