Summary
Two unreleased Mac Pro models — codenamed J170 and J190 — were shelved before launch, including an Intel-powered version and an M3 Ultra model planned for early 2025.
Cost and demand concerns also led Apple to wind down its higher-end M2 Extreme and M3 Extreme chips, which had been intended to sit above the Ultra line.
Apple formally ended the Mac Pro in March, removing it from its website and steering buyers to the Mac Studio instead.
Bloomberg reported Apple is unlikely to revive the Mac Pro soon, with new Mac Studio models using M5 Ultra chips expected as early as this fall.
