30-mph Tropical Depression Two is forecast to strengthen into Tropical Storm Bertha on Monday, with a Tropical Storm Watch in effect for coastal Franklin County through 11 a.m. Wednesday.
The system is drifting west-northwest toward Louisiana by Wednesday, and forecasters say it could weaken inland or strengthen again if it stays offshore approaching the Texas coast by Friday.
Franklin County faces rough surf, a high rip-current risk and localized storm-surge flooding of 1-3 feet in some coastal spots as southerly winds push water into Apalachee Bay.
Rain bands from the system are expected to bring 3-5 inches south of I-10 and 1-2 inches north of it through midweek, with isolated gusty storms and a possible spin-up tornado.
