Three AISA protesters — national president Neha and two colleagues — remained on indefinite hunger strike for a 22nd day on July 19 at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, after others dropped out over health problems.
June 28 marked the start of their fast during the broader CJP protest; the remaining three now need support to walk and are staying in a makeshift tent near the main stage.
Neha, 29, is the only woman still fasting and has emerged as a prominent face of the agitation after joining from its early days in late June.
AISA says its support for the CJP protest grows out of years of student mobilization on education issues, while Neha frames the campaign as a fight against what she calls BJP "politics of hatred."
