Mainland Rebukes Lai Over 2 Laws, Accusing Him of Smearing Anti-Secession Act

Chen said the Anti-Secession Law protects sovereignty, deters "Taiwan independence" activities and supports peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, while the ethnic unity law serves the interests of all Chinese ethnic groups, including Taiwan compatriots.
He also accused Lai's administration of escalating cross-Strait tensions, restricting freedoms and pushing Taiwan toward conflict, arguing that separatism runs against public support on the island for peace, development and exchanges.
The exchange underscores Beijing's continued effort to frame reunification as the historical direction of cross-Strait relations and to cast Lai's rhetoric as a threat to that trajectory.
