Employment scam reports doubled in 2025, the Better Business Bureau said, flagging a sharp rise in fake job offers targeting people looking for work.
So-called task-job scams are among the fastest-growing schemes, luring victims with easy pay for liking videos or subscribing to channels before demanding fees to release earnings.
BBB said legitimate employers do not require taxes, fees or deposits before paying wages, making any pay-to-get-paid demand a key warning sign.
The group urged job seekers to verify openings on a company’s official website and treat offers made without a real interview as likely scams.
