Summary
Nearly 30,000 Baltimore Gas and Electric customers were without power by 5 p.m. Saturday after severe storms tore across the Baltimore region under a tornado watch.
Anne Arundel County was hit hardest, with snapped utility poles, trees on wires and homes, and more than 30 trees reported on houses, fire officials said.
Riviera Beach saw some of the worst damage: large limbs crushed a car, a home's roof was torn off, and multiple trees toppled or uprooted.
No injuries were reported, and the tornado watch for much of the Baltimore area was canceled at 6 p.m. as the storm threat shifted toward the Lower Eastern Shore and Delaware.
A cold front is expected to move through overnight with a lingering chance of strong storms before drier, less humid weather settles in Sunday and Monday.
