Summary
At least 1 person was killed and 13 injured after Russia struck Kyiv from about 1:30 a.m. in what Ukraine said was the biggest ballistic missile barrage of the war.
Around four dozen ballistic missiles hit the capital over several hours, Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha said, with fires breaking out in five districts.
Residential buildings, a dormitory, office and industrial sites, and vehicles were damaged; rescue crews pulled residents from burning buildings in Sviatoshynskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts.
The assault followed Ukrainian drone strikes that Russia said killed at least 9 people at Wildberries warehouses, while Kyiv said it also hit two Russian oil tankers in the Black Sea and a crane in the Sea of Azov.
The exchange underscores a widening long-range strike campaign as Kyiv still faces shortages of Patriot air-defense missiles and Russia steps up large attacks on the capital.
