Summary
July 12 Sentinel-2 imagery shows two newly damaged areas inside Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant complex after the latest US strikes, including impact scars and an apparent hit on nearby support facilities.
The findings sharpen questions over Bushehr because CENTCOM said its July 7-8 campaign hit about 90 military targets along Iran’s southern coast but did not name the nuclear site among them.
Bushehr deputy governor Ehsan Jahanian said on July 9 that areas around the plant were struck, then denied the reactor itself had been hit and said operations continued normally.
Bushehr-1 is Iran’s only operating nuclear power reactor, with about 915 megawatts of net capacity, and damage there is more sensitive than at enrichment sites because it contains nuclear fuel and radioactive material.
IAEA incident reports already logged projectile impacts inside or near the Bushehr premises on March 17, March 24, March 27 and April 4, underscoring repeated warnings that nuclear facilities should never be attacked.
