Taiwan ranked 19th in prosperity and 21st in freedom in the Atlantic Council's 2026 indexes, with its prosperity position rising nine places from a year earlier.
Taiwan scored 86.1 on prosperity and 84.8 on freedom, well above global averages of 66.5 and 62.2 across 171 countries.
The report said global political freedom and rule of law kept deteriorating while prosperity growth slowed, even as the post-pandemic economic recovery continued.
In East Asia and the Pacific, Taiwan outperformed Japan, South Korea and Singapore on at least one of the two measures, while China ranked 147th in freedom and 93rd in prosperity.
