Trump Meets New Senator Darline Graham 5 Days After Lindsey Graham's Death

9:30 a.m. local time, Donald Trump is set to host newly sworn-in Senator Darline Graham in the Oval Office, five days after her brother Lindsey Graham died at 71.
Tuesday's appointment by South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster put Darline Graham in the seat for the rest of Lindsey Graham's term, which ends on Jan. 3, after Trump backed her selection.
A preliminary ruling from the chief medical examiner said Lindsey Graham died Sunday from aortic dissection due to cardiovascular disease after what his office called a brief and sudden illness.
Darline Graham said it was an honor to replace the brother who became her legal guardian, pledging to support Trump and continue Lindsey Graham's work for South Carolina over the next several months.
South Carolina Republicans will still hold an Aug. 11 special election for a Senate nominee, who will face Democrat Annie Andrews in the November midterms.
