Twenty-seven members of Congress issued a joint statement rejecting an additional $3.3 billion in a Republican foreign-aid budget bill for Israeli military operations in Gaza and Lebanon.
The lawmakers said the funding would support campaigns that have killed tens of thousands of civilians, destroyed civilian infrastructure and deepened humanitarian crises, arguing existing U.S. human-rights conditions have not been meaningfully enforced.
Their statement backed the Massie amendment and framed the vote as opposition to military aid rather than to all U.S. engagement in the region.
They said they still support programs such as the Nita M. Lowey Middle East Partnership for Peace Act, while urging U.S. policy to prioritize diplomacy, civil society and a negotiated peace.
