Rep. Ben Cline Introduces Bill to Restrict DAR Membership After 1,481-984 Vote

Rep. Ben Cline on Wednesday introduced the Daughters of the American Revolution Membership Integrity Act, which would require the congressionally chartered group to admit only biological women.
The bill would amend DAR’s federal charter while leaving its lineage rules intact, after Cline said the organization adopted a policy interpreted as allowing transgender applicants.
1,481 DAR members voted against 984 on June 26 to reject a proposal limiting membership to those “born female,” preserving the group’s current approach.
Founded in 1890, the DAR is open to women descended from American Revolutionary War patriots; Cline’s office said the measure already has backing from several conservative organizations.
