Leicester Square hosted the world premiere of Netflix’s “Heartstopper Forever” on Tuesday, with Kit Connor, Joe Locke and creator Alice Oseman leading the London launch of the franchise’s concluding film.
The movie closes the story after 3 seasons by testing Nick and Charlie with a looming university move, Charlie’s growing independence and the strain of a long-distance relationship.
Connor said the film lets Nick’s usual “ray of sunshine” persona crack under new pressures, while Locke said he will miss the cast most, calling their bond “more than friendship.”
The premiere also underscored the film’s more mature tone, with Connor and Locke saying young queer relationships should be shown honestly as Nick and Charlie explore intimacy further.
“Heartstopper,” one of Netflix’s most popular shows, has helped launch several cast members’ careers; Oseman wrote the finale film and Wash Westmoreland directed.
