Prince George's County police arrested a man at a PNC Bank after he allegedly stole 3-month-old kitten Magnolia from a nearby pet store and then tried to rob the branch with a demand note.
Security video and witness accounts showed the suspect entering Pet Supplies Plus, grabbing the black-and-white tuxedo kitten from the adoption area, and running straight to the bank in the same shopping center.
At the bank, the man allegedly asked an employee to hold Magnolia before handing a teller the note; the robbery failed, and the kitten was recovered unharmed.
Beltsville Community Cats said Magnolia briefly bonded with the bank manager during the ordeal and remains available for adoption after what the rescue called her short-lived 'life of crime.'
