IFAW Refloats 19 Bottlenose Dolphins Along 9-Mile Cape Cod Coast

Nineteen bottlenose dolphins stranded across three Cape Cod locations refloated Tuesday on a rising tide, and IFAW said the animals were in decent condition.
The rescue count grew rapidly after four dolphins were first found, with teams monitoring the refloated groups in Wellfleet Bay and trying to coax them toward open water before the next low tide.
Two dolphins were fitted with satellite tags to track their movements and see whether separated groups reunite after the stranding.
The operation followed Monday reports of 28 to 30 stranded dolphins at Eastham, where five to six died before rescuers arrived in what IFAW called Massachusetts' largest known bottlenose dolphin stranding.
