Brussels Tower Fire Leaves 6 Missing as Rescuers Find 2 to 3 Bodies in Elevator

Six workers were still unaccounted for Tuesday after rescuers spotted two or three bodies inside an elevator at the Oxy Tower renovation site in central Brussels.
Firefighters said an initial blaze on a lower floor was contained quickly, but flames shot through elevator shafts and sparked another fire in an underground level, trapping workers in lifts.
Two other people suffered burns and were taken to hospital, while access to a second elevator remained blocked for much of the day, complicating the search.
More than 200 workers were on the site at Place de Brouckere, where the former administrative tower is being converted into offices, restaurants, hotel rooms and apartments.
Authorities said the cause of the fire was still unclear, and Brussels Mayor Philippe Close called the incident a tragedy and pledged support for those affected.
