More than 26,000 U.S. startups were reviewed for Newsweek and Plant-A Insights' America’s Greatest Startup Workplaces 2026 ranking, with the highest-scoring companies recognized in the final list.
The pool was narrowed to more than 2,000 eligible startups founded in or after 2020, each with at least 50 employees and U.S. headquarters, while companies created through mergers, acquisitions or rebranding were excluded.
More than 10 KPIs drove the scoring model, spanning employee satisfaction, operational growth, financial performance and customer engagement to assess workplace culture, scalability and long-term growth potential.
A two-year screening through June 15, 2026 also checked for adverse media coverage, regulatory penalties and workplace misconduct, and companies with significant involvement in those issues were removed from consideration.
Plant-A said the ranking is based on independent research under a no-pay-to-play policy and should be treated as editorial recognition rather than investment or business guidance.
